About Us

Projex Group was founded in the late 1980s by Jim Kornmehl in order to supply the Wolfin Waterproofing System to the Australian market. As the demand for the best quality waterproofing system grew so did the range of Projex products – all designed to fill the niche of supplying the absolute best material to solve the problem.

Shockmat was added to the range in the early 1990s to act as a membrane protector and later on was improved so it could be used as ballast mat and gymnasium floors.

The Linkseal system for sealing pipe penetrations with a mechanical seal was added in the 1990s as was the KBS Passive Fire System.

As the company grew its reputation as a supplier of products that could solve problems with confidence developed.

Other waterproofing products with the same level of quality were added – Cosmofin and Koster. UGA Cable Seals and external sleeves were added as was the Damtec Sub-Ballast Mat for Railway bridges.

Projex disposed of the KBS division in the early 2000s as it no longer fitted the area of activity favoured by the rest of Projex.

In the mid 1990s Michael Herder, a waterproofer with some 25 years experience, was persuaded to sell his own company and join Projex as the Operations Manager. In the early 2000s one of the company’s sales representatives, Nick Pearson, was promoted to the position of National Sales Manager. The company is still run by the management team of Jim Kornmehl, Michael Herder (known as “Harry”) and Nick Pearson.

Projex Group employs a qualified & dedicated Sales Team who offer the highest level of Technical & Customer service.

The philosophy of providing the best and safest product to solve the problem has not changed.
