Surry HillsThe award-winning Surry Hills library has officially been crowned a world leading community facility after winning one of architectures most prestigious international awards- Best New Global Design Award 2011. Not only has the building set a new benchmark in environmental design & performance it has also been designed to dramatically reduce energy use. Wolfin GWSK Waterproofing Membrane has been installed as the flat roofing membrane under the Green Roof typically consisting of soil & plantings. The roof then cools the building in summer & insulates it in winter & also acts as the primary collection point for the 60 000lt rainwater storage tank. The Wolfin Membrane System is one of few membranes to have certified testings for use as a Green roof membrane. |

National LibraryStanding on the southern shore of Lake Burley Griffin, Canberra, is the National Library of Australia. By 2001 the building housed over six million items. In late 2005 GHD was engaged by the client to provide a long term solution to water ingress through the podium slab into library areas below. It was imperative that the areas below the podium remain dry during the refurbishment of the podium as well as upon completion. Accordingly the well-proven Wolfin Waterproofing Membrane System was specified for the project and temporary shedding was constructed up to 2,500msq, over the work areas. This involved the coordination of several trades & implementation of a regimented works program. On completion and sign-off of the membrane works by Wolfin Membranes Australia each deck area was flood tested for a minimum 72 hours before hand-over to the builder & then to the client after reinstatement of the original slate tiling. |

The Conservatorium of MusicThe Conservatorium of Music adjacent to Sydney's Botanical Gardens is noticed by everybody that comes to Sydney. It is the building in the middle of Macquarie Street that looks like a medieval castle or small palace. The Wolfin System was chosen because of its ability to be used in landscaping projects, proven & tested in green roof membrane applications and able to be subjected to permanently damp situations. The waterproofing was made more difficult than usual because of the placement of 12,000 m2 of gardens and landscaping over the flat roofing structures. All areas were water tested for 7 days prior to being signed off. (waterproof roofing membrane) |

Faculty of Law: USYD:Nestled between the Carslaw Building and the Fisher Library and overlooking Victoria Park is Sydney University’s newest building for the Faculty of Law. Much of the building is situated below the large, open courtyard with direct, level access from Eastern Avenue. Steps at the eastern end of the courtyard lead down to Barff Road and the boundary of the University grounds. Amongst the walkways and grassed areas that form the open courtyard. Within the building below the courtyard are study rooms, seminar rooms, bathrooms, a lecture theatre and library. A critical element of the building’s functionality was the waterproofing. With such large areas to be waterproofed over critical areas and knowing that access to the waterproofing medium would be extremely difficult to access once the landscaping works were completed, the Wolfin GWSK bonded membrane system was chosen due to its proven track record in similar projects. The membrane works included the courtyard, external stairs from the courtyard to Barff Road, open plant areas, flat roofing areas and joining onto the existing adjacent buildings. The lift over-run pits in the basement of the building were also waterproofed with the Wolfin system. |
