What
is Wolfin?
The Wolfin membrane itself is a Polyester-PVC
compound with no leachable plasticiser. The overall
system (membrane, steel profiles, liquid and cast-in
details) is made in Germany.
 |
| Timber decking on timber bearers laid over Wolfin on balcony. |
The membrane is always used in conjunction with
the profile system and the design philosophy is
completely self-sufficient waterproofing.
In addition to the basic Wolfin - Wolfin IB -
there are other Wolfin variants that have the Wolfin
IB as a basic component.
 |
| Wolfin laid to waterproof building built in Sydney suburb of Sans Souci. Ground Floor built 0.5 metres under high-water mark. |
The other membrane variants expand the system's
useability in more specialised applications. All
types have excellent UV and variable temperature
behaviour and the technical details are similar
to Wolfin IB.
Wolfin complies with AS1530.3 as to heat and
fire tests.
 |
| Wolfin laid on roof of Murray Power Station in Snowy Mountain Area. Wolfin subjected to daily temperature ranges of –10oC - +40 oC on exposed roof. |
• Wolfin IB:
1.5 mm: Standard general purpose membrane - useful
for new and retrofit roofing and liquid containment
applications - allows most existing failed materials
to stay. Colours are light grey or black.
2 mm: The same as above, but stronger for more
onerous duty, such as girder tops on transom-top
rail bridges or heavy-duty expansion joints. Colour
- black.
• Wolfinsteel: This is 24 gge galvanised steel
with an 0.8 mm thick layer of Wolfin factory bonded
to one side. This is used for terminations (and
intermediate fixings where required, such as high
walls or long spans) and can be cut and bent to
any desired size or shape.
All such details are encapsulated, as are all
fixings and are predominantly designed to act in
shear. They are also useful for fully integrated
cappings and overflashings, and can be decorated
(painted) if desired with any good quality acrylic
coating. Standard colours are light grey or black.

| An underground tank was lined with Wolfin at HMAS Harman Naval base in Canberra. The tank holds water for the cooling system of the base. |
• 316L Wolfinsteel: This is the same as the Wolfinsteel
above but the steel used is Low-Carbon Stainless
Steel. This variant of the Wolfinsteel is used where
there are particularly severe corrosion issues. Black only.
• Wolfin AF 6: An extruded section made of Wolfin
IB, which is cast into concrete to form an efficient
reglet termination, or intermediate strong point.
• Wolfin M (reinforced - high tensile, low elasticity):
The Wolfin IB with a polyester reinforcement embedded
into the middle - useful where very high (1600 Nmm2)
tensile behaviour is sought and elasticity is less
critical. Note, when stressed to reinforcement failure
the normal behaviour is a local breakage of the
mesh, with no break of the parent membrane - the
membrane reverts to its normal elastic state (300%+),
reducing consequential risk.
• Wolfin GWSK (reinforced heavy duty self-adhesive):
Standard Wolfin IB membrane with a fibreglass reinforcement
mesh embedded on one side and coated on that same
side with a powerful modified bituminous adhesive.
Useful for heavy duty adhered systems where peel
and stick is desired and also directly under asphalt.
This is the standard membrane for roadworks.

| Wolfin was used to line the bathrooms of Australia’s largest backpacker hotel in Sydney. The bathrooms were lined to ceiling height in all cases so that high-pressure water could be used to clean the bathrooms without allowing water penetration. The building is of internal timber construction. |
• Wolfin S (standard self-adhesive): Similar
to GWSK but with a thinner layer of adhesive backing.
Useful for all locations where full bond is required.
• Wolfin Tec E (repair strip): 0.8 thick Wolfin
with a powerful adhesive layer - supplied in 165
mm wide x 15 metre long rolls. The adhesive will
adhere to any membrane system on the market including
EPDM. It will also adhere to steel, concrete & timber.
• Wolfin Corners: Preformed Internal and External
corners for a tighter neater look. The Wolfin membrane
welds direct to the corners.
• Terostat Fixband : 120mm wide Self-Adhesive
tape used to seal Wolfin to wall where render to
be applied over. Can only be used in balcony or
garden bed or small terrace situations. To be used
with Wolfin M and Terokal 914.
 |
| Wolfin waterproofed roof of Readers Digest building so that entire roof could be used for extensive rooftop gardens including mature trees and ornamental stream. |
• Terokal Alufixband: 120mm wide self-adhesive
tape used to seal Wolfin to wall. Can only be used
in balcony or garden bed or small terrace situations.
To be used with Wolfin M and Terokal 914.
• Terokal 914:
High Strength adhesive to be used
with Wolfin. Can be used against steel, concrete,
timber and all non-porous surfaces.
